The DPA is committed to supporting access to justice by organizing volunteer opportunities throughout the year and partnering with organizations that regularly need assistance. Pro bono work allows paralegals to make a meaningful impact while strengthening their professional skills and serving those in need. Visit our Events page for upcoming volunteer opportunities. Remember, for every three hours of legal-based pro bono service, you earn one CLE credit toward renewing your DCP certification. Delaware Volunteer Legal Services - "DVLS" DVLS serves indigent residents throughout the State of Delaware by providing quality, pro bono legal services. They try to ensure that those individuals without financial resources will receive the same access to justice in civil matters as other litigants. The DPA assists with several events/programs offered by DVLS, such as: PFA Pro Bono Program - Volunteers sign-up for a Friday in Family Court, assisting attorneys to help victims of domestic violence in obtaining Protection from Abuse Orders (PFA's). Wills for Seniors - DPA members assist with drafting and execution of estate documentation of local seniors at periodic Wills for Seniors Clinics. |
![]() The Delaware Law Related Education Center ("Delrec") host an annual mock trial competition for high school students across the state of Delaware in the New Castle County Courthouse. Students are given a scenario and play the roles of witnesses and attorneys. Actual Judges and Attorneys from Delaware act as jurors and judges. The students are scored and awards are given out. The DPA assists Delrec by providing runners to escort the Judges/Attorneys throughout the courtroom and deliver the scoring sheets. You get to sit in and watch the competition as well! It's always a fun day. The Mock Trial Competition is held in late February every year. Please consider volunteering your time! | ![]() The Wills for Heroes programs provide essential legal documents free of charge to our nation’s first responders, including wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. By helping first responders plan now, they ensure their family's legal affairs are in order before a tragedy hits. The 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit Wills for Heroes Foundation supports these Wills programs, giving back to the community and "protecting those who protect us." The DPA assists with events by providing witnesses and notaries to sign the documents once prepared. Let's do our part and help those that help keep us safe! ![]() | ![]() The Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. ("CLASI") helps provide equal access to justice by providing free legal services to people with disabilities, senior citizens, victims of housing discrimination and domestic violence, people living in poverty, and immigrant victims. CLASI is looking for volunteer paralegals to assist their attorneys with intake and client interviews, fact investigations, document requests, legal research, document drafting and community education activities.
